Imperial Dynasty concluded another memorable season by earning a place in the WGI World Championship Finals for the second consecutive year. Competing among ensembles from across the country in Dayton, Ohio, the group successfully advanced through the preliminary and semifinal rounds before once again performing on the floor of UD Arena.

Returning to Finals represented more than another competitive achievement. After reaching this milestone for the first time in 2025, the ensemble entered the 2026 season determined to prove that the accomplishment was not simply a one-time moment. Through months of rehearsals, performances, revisions, and steady growth, the members and staff continued building upon the foundation established the previous year.

Imperial Dynasty’s 2026 production, A Vision in a Dream, drew its inspiration from Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem “Kubla Khan,” with its vivid descriptions of Xanadu, the sacred river Alph, and a magnificent pleasure-dome rising within an imagined landscape.

The production brought that mysterious world to life through an atmospheric combination of music, movement, and visual design. Dreamlike moments unfolded alongside passages of energy and intensity, reflecting the poem’s contrast between beauty, imagination, power, and chaos. As the program developed throughout the season, performers invited audiences into a world that felt both majestic and uncertain—a vision taking shape before eventually slipping back into the dream from which it came.

The ensemble’s return to WGI Finals was made possible by the dedication of its performers, instructional staff, designers, administrators, volunteers, families, and supporters. Every rehearsal, performance, equipment move, meal, late-night drive, and encouraging word played a part in carrying Imperial Dynasty back to the World Championship stage.

Special recognition also goes to the members who completed their final season with Imperial Dynasty in 2026. Their leadership, commitment, and performances helped shape another important chapter in the ensemble’s history.

With consecutive WGI Finals appearances now part of its story, Imperial Dynasty continues to establish itself on the national stage. The 2026 season may have begun as A Vision in a Dream, but the achievement it produced was very real—and it has set the foundation for everything still to come.
